What the free edition leaves out

The free edition is genuinely usable, but some team or enterprise features need a paid plan. “Not confirmed” means the official pages we read did not say, so we do not guess.

Best for

Teams that want an Airtable-style interface over their own database and can accept a source-available license that restricts offering NocoDB as a paid or managed service.

Why choose it over Airtable

You can self-host it for your own organization with unlimited seats and records, and the pricing page lists all five roles and the six view types in the Community edition. The license lets you read and modify the source for internal use.

Where it falls short

It is no longer open source: since January 2026 the license is the Sustainable Use License, which is not OSI-approved and restricts offering NocoDB as a service. SAML single sign-on, audit logs, row-level security, field-level permissions and priority support are listed only on paid plans. The quickstart runs four containers, including Postgres and Redis.

Self-hostable alternative to

  • Airtable — NocoDB's pricing page compares itself with Airtable and its site offers an Airtable import, so it can replace Airtable for teams that want to self-host.
